Momo Kaval has plans for his life: the 19-year-old would like to marry his girlfriend, become a professional football player and buy his mother an apartment. He stays away from the dirty business of his clan. When Momo does his cousins a favour, he has no idea that he is involved in a serious robbery. He is arrested and ends up in court. Everything indicates that he will be released quickly and can sign his professional contract.

Nine years in prison - that's the verdict for Momo. Now the 19-year-old realizes that his uncle Ámar is putting him behind bars as a scapegoat. He turns down his cousin Sharif's offer to deal for the clan in prison. Momo has learned that you always have a choice. When Ámar's goons ambush him, Momo learns how hard it is to stay true to himself.

The illegal business in prison is being reorganized and Momo is supposed to play a central role in it. Now he has to deal with the corrupt guard, who is supposed to get him on the side of the crime family on behalf of his uncle Ámar. Momo hopes for a chance to join the football team. The almost professional has to prove to the trainer and his buddy Wiktor that he is not only the best, but can also be a team player.

Outside, his girlfriend Daniela is being put under pressure by the criminal clans, and Momo is at the center of the turf war between his uncle Ámar, strip club owner Henry, and the Kurdish godfather. Meanwhile, Momo's mother fears losing her younger son as well.

Momo loses his innocence and Daniela plays along on all sides as the noose around Uncle Amar's neck tightens. Momo no longer knows who to trust. Daniela finds a way to smuggle more stuff into jail - without realizing that she is in danger herself. She is kidnapped and used as leverage against Momo, who is trying to prove at an important football game that he deserves a chance. The kidnapping of his girlfriend presents him with a difficult decision.

Against the backdrop of beautiful Vancouver — with all its unique, charming, and even contradictory neighbourhoods and subcultures — the two will have to learn what it means to trust another person and maybe actually become partners.
