Hip Bath & Bar

Season 1Episode 1330 minAug. 27, 2010
Hip Bath & Bar

A massive 12' by 11' bathroom once configured for a physically disabled person gives way to an upbeat shower retreat for an active 20-something couple. A wide linen closet is stripped of its plantation doors and wire shelves and turned into a coffee bar/station. The walls framing the oversized wheelchair-access shower are cut down and glass-block walls added to form a dry, doorless entry. The freshly tiled shower, complete with a rain showerhead, features new wall fixtures and a soothing warm steam bench. Another storage/linen closet that once served as a standup shower, the "shoset," is also emptied of its shelving, and a luxury stackable washer/dryer combo with wooden face panels slides into the space, making the room more than multifunctional.
