How to Get Ahead in Medical School
We are introduced to the group and their situations. Fitz, previously a doctor but now working for an Air Ambulance company, returns to Mercy hospital. Ming is ready to proceed with artificial insemination, and her husband Chen must deal with stress, dangerous fantasies and the consequences of Fitz's return.
The Missing Years
Fitz tells Ming that he's decided to stay in Toronto, working at Mercy. Ming decides to go ahead with her insemination plans despite Fitz's decision. The doctors reflect on their early days at the hospital.
Code Clock
Chen senses ulterior motives in Fitz's return to Mercy hospital, and confronts him when he finds the love letters that Fitz had wrote to Ming. They recall the Morbidity and Mortality conference (M&M), where Fitz presented the code blue that he and Chen were called to.
Family Practice
Chen visits Australia to see his grandfather. Fitz does a rotation at the Family Practice clinic. Ming evaluates her unexpected pregnancy, and what it would mean for her.
Unhappy Endings
Christmas time brings chaos to the hospital. Fitz tends to a patient that had a run in with the cops, while Chen must deal with a patient who was unfaithful in his marriage. Both Chen and Fitz evaluate their own careers and relationships. Ming visits her father, who has unwanted advice in regards to her fertility problems. Sri receives some unsettling news.
All Souls
While en route to medevac a patient in Guatemala, Fitz recalls the events that occurred after Christmas eve. At Mercy, Ming tends to a pregnant patient, but the situation quickly turns into an emergency.
Isolation
Fitz and Chen are put into isolation, after Fitz returns home with a mysterious ailment. Ming undergoes quarantine at home, where she reconsiders their adoption plan.
Complications
Ming finally sees her dream of being a mother come true, though the donor plans she and Chen made with Fitz undergoes some changes. Through this, Fitz learns how to love and be loved, and Chen feels confident to pursue a writing career.
