The six British ""brats"" are first introduced by their parents, who have decided to send them away to a boot camp in Utah, where they will learn to be better people, and that they are not the center of the world. Upon arrival at the camp, they are given one last night to sleep in a bed prior to being sent into the wild (unbenounced to them). That night, Fran will not obey the counselors' wishes and go to bed, and rebels when changing her clothes in the bathroom by tearing down the shower curtain, and then makes makes a break for it and tries to escape, but is caught before she could get out of site. The next morning, all are given a breakfast, and then are given thorough physical examinations, prior to being given a standardized outfit that they will wear for the remainder of their time at the camp. They also must give up any body piercing that they have, and James, Fran, and Rachel put up a fight, but finally give in when they are told they will get them back at the end of their ti
