Kaidan is a feature of Japan's summer. Japanese people enjoy scary stories as a form of entertainment, which is a sense that is different from foreigners. Kaidan have been standard in kabuki and rakugo from long ago. In the summer there are events all around Japan, such as gathering to tell each other kaidan and kaidan tours.
