Corner Shop Cook-Off - Season 1
Season 1
Episodes
Episode 1
In this episode, Gary takes on his best friend, Mark Heirs, Scotland's premier private chef. Mark is a man more used to cooking for the rich and famous on super yachts using foie gras rather than fish paste, and more at home with white truffles than the white bread he finds in today's corner shop in Stirling.
Episode 2
In this episode, Gary is facing off against Bombay street food specialist Rachna Dheer in the tiny village of Balmaclellan in Dumfries and Galloway. Will Rachna's fashionable fast food prove a hit with the judges, made up of locals farmers, or will they side with Gary's more traditional fayre? This shop may be a cut above most corner shops, but how far can Gary and Rachna make their £15 stretch?
Episode 3
In this episode, Gary is pitched against one of Scotland's rising stars of the kitchen, Julie Lin MacLeod, as they travel to the sleepy Ayrshire village of Dunlop. Will Gary be able to tempt the local judges with his top-quality restaurant food, or will Julie's Malaysian-inspired dishes win through?
Episode 4
Today Gary is in Biggar, Lanarkshire, to take on fellow MasterChef: The Professionals winner Jamie Scott. Jamie won the competition two years before Gary and now runs one of Scotland's best resturants, the Newport in Fife.
In a battle of the MasterChefs, Gary and Jamie stop at nothing to impress today's judges, the shop keepers and the bigwigs of Biggar. Who can make their £15 go furthest and win over our picky panel?
Episode 5
In this episode, Gary is pitched against Jak O'Donnell, one of Scotland's best-known chefs and two-time veteran of The Great British Menu as well as chef patron of Glasgow's The Sisters restaurant.
Gary and Jak are in the picturesque village of Gargunnock, Stirlingshire. They might have been best of friends for 20 years, but that will all be put to one side as they try to defeat each other by impressing the local hero judges with some thrilling but thrifty dishes.
Episode 6
In this episode, Gary is in the village of Law to lock horns with Craig Wilson - aka The Kilted Chef. Will the denizens of Law be bowled over by Gary's contemporary cooking, or will Craig's classic cuisine triumph?
Gary and Craig pull out all the stops to impress judges Nadieem and Freya, who run the store as well as Law's local heroes. Who can make their £15 go furthest and win over the panel?
