Susanna Reid travels to Huntsville, home of the most active death chamber in the United States, to come face to face with Death Row inmate Patrick Murphy - one of the seven members of the notorious Texas 7 gang - who violently murdered a police officer while on the run. Susanna meets the lawyers who are fighting for and against his execution, the family of the victim who lost his life, as well as Patrick's own family and, when his execution day arrives, is outside the death chamber with those closest to the crime.
Episode 2
Susanna Reid travels to Texas to meet convicted killer Billie Wayne Coble in the days leading up to his scheduled execution. In 1989 he pleaded guilty to triple murder and has been on death row ever since. Now 70, he is fighting for a last-minute stay of execution. If it fails, he will be the oldest man put to death in Texas for more than 100 years. Susannah asks Billie to relive the night of the crime and tries to find out how it has affected him and also speaks to his relatives and others involved in the case.

Wild Cards
Wild Cards follows the unlikely duo of a gruff, sardonic cop and a spirited, clever con woman. Ellis, a demoted detective, has unfortunately spent the last year on the maritime unit, while Max has been living a transient life elaborately scamming everyone she meets. But when Max gets arrested and ends up helping Ellis solve a local crime, the two are offered the opportunity to redeem themselves, with Ellis going back to detective and Max staying out of jail. The catch? They have to work together, with each using their unique skills to solve crimes. For Ellis, that means hard-boiled shoe leather police work; for Max, it means accents, schemes and generally befriending everyone in sight, while driving Ellis absolutely nuts. Against the backdrop of beautiful Vancouver — with all its unique, charming, and even contradictory neighbourhoods and subcultures — the two will have to learn what it means to trust another person and maybe actually become partners.
