Diana's Decades - Season 1

Season 1

Episodes

The 1970s
Princess Diana was an icon who both captured and transformed the spirt of the times. Here we see how this thoroughly modern princess emerged from the bra-burning spirit of the 1970s and helped transform the fortunes of not just the Royal Family but Britain itself

The 1980s
Princess Diana began the 80s a shy bride and ended the decade the most photographed woman in the world. From Dynasty Di to Pop Princess to AIDS champion, Diana harnessed and embodied the spirit of the 80s. As the world screamed, Greed is Good, Diana found her voice and championed those left behind, and became, in the words of Vanity Fair's Tina Brown, ‘the Mouse That Roared'.

The 1990s
As the Berlin Wall came down and Nelson Mandela walked free, a new sense of liberty dawned in the 1990s. In Britain, New Labour was emerging and the Spice Girls were soon to form. This final episode explores how - in the new age of mass communication - Diana became the emblem of a new spirit of emotional candour.

Grantchester
Eavesdropping on the life of Sidney Chambers, a charismatic, charming, crime-fighting clergyman, and his partner in crime Police Inspector Geordie Keating, became a highlight for the audience who revelled in their on screen partnership. Geordie's plain-speaking, down to earth approach to policing complemented Sidney's more gentle technique of coaxing information from witnesses and suspects. Their unlikely pairing became a true friendship as each offered a different insight into the crimes they unravelled.
