A corpse dug up by wild boar is found by a hunter in the Forstenrieder forest. The dead man is identified as Simon Sobotka, a skipper and drug dealer who was receiving medical treatment for a brain hemorrhage and was living on a cabin boat on Lake Starnberg. In addition to the friendly boatyard owner Heinkel, the victim seems to have had little social contact, but then Vera Lanz encounters a reference to a former patient at the clinic, who is said to have known Sobotka well. It is Hannah Eichner, the sister of the medical examiner Dr. Heike Steinbeck. Hannah is being treated for an accidental emotional amnesia that is affecting her and her family greatly. A difficult situation for Vera Lanz and her friend Steinbeck, who wants to protect her sister and her family, while Hannah becomes Vera's suspect. This also includes Hannah's father-in-law Lambert, her husband Ulf and their 16-year-old son Marlon, but also Heinkel, who stole the money from Sobotka's drug deals after Sobotka's disappearance. When Heike finally discovers her sister's DNA from hair samples on the corpse, she decides to withhold this evidence. When Vera finds out, their friendship is put to the test.
