Un nuevo profesor de matemáticas ha llegado a la Laguna Negra. Se trata de Mateo, que no ha empezado con demasiado uen pie en el internado. Mientras trataba de averiguar el camino hacia el colegio, Mateo choca contra Amelia y la profesora decide vengarse a su manera por el incidente. Uno de los alumnos se ha ido para siempre pero, minutos antes de su muerte, quiso dejar una pista para que sus compañeros siguieran la búsqueda. En su teléfono móvil grabó la clave para comprenderlo todo. Es un nombre: Irene. Pero Iván no quiere seguir con la investigación, está convencido de que si no hubiesen metido las narices donde nadie les llamaba el alumno seguiría con vida. No puede confiar en nadie, ni sus amigos, ni en Carol y mucho menos en su padre. Héctor cree que con su dimisión ha evitado la expulsión de los chicos y, por eso, le parece bien que Elsa sea su sustituta y ocupe su puesto. Lo que no sabe el ya ex-director es que los padres han puesto a Elsa una condición para aceptar el cargo y es, precisamente, que expulse a los chicos. Mientras Héctor trata de solucionar este asunto, Fermín tiene una preocupación más inmediata: deshacerse del cadáver de su contacto, que ha aparecido muerto de un disparo en su propio coche.
