They have been trying for two years to grow bananas without Chlorpyrifos, the most widely used pesticide. The experiment has been really beneficial. But this ban has caused the average cost of Spanish bananas to increase by 92%. The latest pesticide ban affects Galician potatoes. Farmers claim that Chlorpropham prevents the potato from germinating and this will cause shortages for two months.
