The suburban sitcom continues. New neighbours are due to move in to the close, much to Martin's chagrin.

Martin saves a little girl from drowning and is hailed a hero. At first he isn't quite sure how to cope with his new-found fame, but he soon gets to grips with being the centre of attention.

Martin achieves a long-held ambition and joins an exclusive local club. Meanwhile, Ann discovers the trials and tribulations of student life at the Open University.

Cavaliers and Roundheads
The local people are planning a fete to raise funds for the RSPCA. It is proposed that the main event of the afternoon should be a mock battle. Martin fancies himself as a General of the Cavaliers. However, events take an unexpected course.
