From his home in Callanish in Lewi,s where he runs a B&B, Gregor MacLeod takes to the road to meet some of the Highlands and Islands' best home cooks and bakers. He visits them in their own kitchens and they share with him their favourite recipes. A professional cook himself, he knows that you can learn so much more from a passionate and practised person than from any cookery book.
In this programme, Gregor and his trusted bakers and cooks show us their favourite recipes using alcohol and other drinks. In Harris he samples his favourite tipple, but in a cake. There, a woman has come up with her own recipe for gin and pink grapefruit steamed sponge.
Back in Lewis, Gregor meets a talented baker who uses green tea to add flavour to his spiced fruit loaf. And in his own kitchen Gregor makes the ultimate chocolate cake but by adding stout to the batter he makes it more moist and even richer.
