1964. Barbara Parker has just been crowned Miss Blackpool Belle, but this was never her dream. Barbara leaves her life behind and heads to London to find her big break.

Barbara lands a lead role in a new TV comedy, but just as she's about to realise her dream, news from home threatens to derail her opportunity.
Episode 3
The show is a huge hit and Barbara's life changes overnight. Intoxicated by success, she embarks on a romance with co-star, Clive.
Episode 4
As the show's ratings soar, Sophie enjoys life as one half of the UK's favourite couple. That is until she learns of Clive's infidelity. Dennis encourages Sophie to fight back by being funny.
Episode 5
Ted Sargent suspends Sophie from the show. The newspapers are told that Sophie is "indisposed", and Dennis, Bill, and Tony are forced to write her out of the next episode.
Episode 6
With Sophie and Clive back together, Dennis returns to the team and persuades Ted Sargent to reinstate Sophie on the sitcom. Later, Sophie is approached by her estranged mother.
