People from across America come here to use the Class A drug peyote to obtain religious enlightenment. On a spiritual retreat, Mawaan needs to decide whether the whole thing is just an excuse to get high in the mountains or whether the medicine man really can help him unlock a link to the spirit world.
Ayahuasca in Rio
Mawaan Rizwan travels to Rio, Brazil, to join the congregations who use the ancient Amazonian hallucinogenic substance ayahuasca in their church services to enhance the worship. As he learns more, he sees whether this ancient medicine - which has been linked to deaths when used unsupervised - can bring him closer to the almighty.
