Heartland Docs, DVM - Season 1
Season 1
Episodes
The Little Practice on the Prairie
The Schroeders' workload is compounded by animal cases spurred by recent flooding in Nebraska. The vets assist a cow in labor that's too weak to stand; chickens with mysterious leg ailments; and a litter of piglets with the squirts. The doctors also put on their podiatrist hats while tending to a pet goat and donkey and investigate a puppy's surprising ear issue.
That Old Farm Magic
Spring has sprung, but a snowstorm hits Nebraska, forcing the Drs. Erin and Ben Schroeder to contend with unpredictable weather. Despite the snow, springtime for the docs means helping to bring new life into the world, whether it's doing a pregnancy check on a herd of 200 cattle; artificially inseminating a German shorthair dog; or wrangling a potentially pregnant pot-bellied pig.
Doggie Delivery
Early spring in Nebraska brings new life and unpredictable veterinary challenges for Drs. Erin and Ben Schroeder as they treat a cow's prolapsed uterus, diagnose a deadly intestinal disease and perform a canine C-section with sons Charlie and Chase assisting. The vets also tend to an injured wild owl, a sheep too weak to stand and a litter of cats with ear mites.
Whole Llama Love
Dr. Ben Schroeder and son Charlie are surprised when a young family brings in an orphaned raccoon they found in their shed, while Dr. Erin Schroeder helps a woman subdue a trapped cat with a serious dental issue. Ben and his younger son Chase also encounter a newborn calf with a hernia the size of a melon and perform surgery, while Erin tries to uncover why a terrier is suddenly experiencing violent seizures. The Schroeders also get a visit from a family of llamas, one of which is expecting, and the whole clan ventures into a massive thunderstorm to aid a downed dairy cow.
Old Town Rodeo
Ahead of the hometown rodeo, the Schroeders make sure the star animals are healthy and ready for the big show. However, that doesn't mean their other patients take a backseat. When he's not avoiding a charging bull, Ben bonds with his two sons while caring for an underdeveloped calf and a snake that won't eat, while Erin tends to a cat with a shocking leg injury.
Hold Your Horses
While Drs. Ben and Erin Schroeder struggle to unravel the complicated issues ailing their patients, we see them live the credo – first, do no harm. Erin sees a beloved basset hound with issues that are more than meets the eye, while Ben has his patience tested by a young stallion. Ben performs an emergency cesarean section on a heifer and the whole family goes to great lengths to aid a newborn fawn, learning an important lesson in the process.
