Kathi's husband, Manuel, disappeared two years ago without a trace, but Kathi wanted her life and that of her children. When she suffers a serious car accident, Robert shows up out of nowhere, pulling her and her children out of the burning wreck. She has no idea that Robert was hired as a police officer to find Manuel, who is wanted for murder of his father and accomplice in a spectacular gold heist.

Kathi doesn't want her feelings for Robert, because there's still no place in her life for a new man. Robert is fascinated by this woman he's supposed to be tailing, despite his secret mission as an undercover investigator. While Kathi manages to open her heart and finally let go of her husband, who has been missing for two years, Robert fights an internal battle.

Kathi doesn't have the heart to confess to Kai that his father left the family and distracts herself from a date with Robert with her anticipation. She has no idea of Robert's mission, which is increasingly ruthless to lie to the trusting Kathi.Kathi finally told her son the truth about his father's whereabouts.

Kathi had to confess to her children the truth about Manuel's disappearance. Kathi went looking for the teenager and finally found Kai with Robert's help. Robert senses that he has feelings for the woman whose husband he is hunting – and who is on his way back home.

Kathi is unsettled by Robert's behavior and wants to focus on the children after they have learned the bitter truth about their father Manuel. When the peace returned, however, she thought only of Robert, and asked if she should contact him again. But then he gets ahead of her and takes an unexpected step at her next meeting.

Kathi is in seventh heaven after the first kiss with Robert, but she is brought back from school to reality. Marie is in trouble with the director because she worked hard for her brother after he was crippled by a classmate. No one suspects that Manuel has reappeared in Cologne after two years and is secretly watching his family.

Manuel is driven away from making amends for his family's mistakes. He wants to use the gold from the robbery to fund an operation for his son and is relieved when his old colleague Itchy agrees to help him. In the meantime, after dinner with Robert, Kathi is quite happy and emotionally willing to get even more involved with Robert and forget Manuel for good.

Manuel loses his temper after seeing Kathi and Robert kiss. First he reacts while riding a motorcycle and then decides to keep fighting for Kathi and his family.

Manuel wants to win his family back at all costs. Not only does his jealousy with Robert cause him problems, but the recovery of the gold is also much more difficult than he thought. Kathi, on the other hand, can now imagine a future with Robert rather than with Manuel. But her attempt to engage with Robert must be met with a nasty surprise.

Kathi suffers after Robert's dismissive treatment. However, when she tries to distract herself with someone else, she is proved wrong. Despite all the obstacles, Manuel gets the caravan, which is located above the buried gold – but when he already mentions himself at the finish line, someone else gets in his way.

Kathi realizes that Robert is not honest with her, and breaks up with him, and the pain of separation drives him to Victoria's and her to Manuel's place. Manuel throws all his concerns overboard to see his family, and his yearning even leads him to give up his cover in front of Kathi. Meanwhile, Sonja Patrick confesses that she missed him, but it triggers something she is not prepared for – a proposal for marriage …

Kai's only shocked when he thinks he saw his father. Kathi initially dismissed the incident as wishful thinking from Kai's side. However, there is a growing body of evidence that Kai may be right. Meanwhile, Sonja is overwhelmed and escapes from Patrick and his marriage proposal – but without giving him an answer. But they catch up with their reluctant feelings …

Sonja keeps Patrick's marriage proposal in her head, and she decides to reject it. But when Sonja wants to tell Patrick her decision, she just can't get over it. Kathi is relieved that Kai's claim to have seen Manuel appears to be a fallacy. But Robert is firmly convinced that he will finally find out.

Manuel has to stay in cover because Marie shows up at the campsite. When he happens to be listening to her throw a party the next night and try to win Kevin at all costs, his paternal protection instincts are awakened. Patrick is taking Sonja on a field trip to have fun again. At a perfect moment, Sonja lets herself be compelled to accept Patrick's marriage proposal.

When he kisses Kathi, Robert is caught up in his feelings, which he has been able to suppress for the last few days. But he has another problem, because he has to fear that his surprise sister Melli will expose him to Kathi. However, at the last minute, Manuel can prevent Marie from walking in front of a car and give up his cover. Amazingly, Marie recognizes her father.

So far, Robert has imagined he's in control of his feelings for Kathi, but Melli makes him realize that he's lying to himself. In fact, Robert makes the decision to tell Kathi the truth, but will he really go through with it? In the meantime, Marie is stunned when she suddenly confronts her father, reluctantly keeping his appearance to herself …

Kathi doesn't let Victoria rattle her and wants to take the next step in her relationship with Robert. But then everything will be different. Manuel is shocked to find that he has been digging for the gold in the wrong place all this time, and then he has to hear from Marie that his family no longer needs it. Beaten, Manuel moves back …
