Episode 1
We meet childhood sweethearts Sam and Lara from London, and young family-of-three Jack, Jaseleigh and baby Kaydee in Wales.
Sam and Lara have been together for five years and live with Sam's nan Jean in a swanky house in Islington. Sam, a model, lives rent- and care-free and has been known to blow a week's wages on one night out. Lara's not much better, with her expensive collection of handbags and shoes. Living at home might help the bank balance, but not the sex life - there's no lock on the bedroom door and Jean isn't one to knock, so a handy dumbbell proves the only thing keeping the couple's life private.
As Sam and Lara move into their own place, can they rein in their expensive taste and forego pricey nights out? Who takes responsibility for the diminishing budget? A couple used to the finer things, will it be just one long party or an emotional nightmare? And when push comes to shove, will they head back to the penthouse at nan's or embrace their new responsibility and interruption-free life?
Across the country, Jack and Jaseleigh live in South Wales with Jaseleigh's doting parents John and Julie. With a small baby, Jack and Jaseleigh live a cosy life, not lifting a finger at home. Jaseleigh is her daddy's princess and Jack doesn't just live with his father-in-law, he works for him as well. Now Jack wants to be king of his own home and prove he can provide for his family.
Moving the young family out for a week is a long time when you're barely house-trained and strangers to a shopping list. Will fake tan remain a priority and pies become a staple food, and how will the pair cope when suddenly hit with a blow to their finances? Will Jack and Jase relish their new found freedom or will it be straight back to the Hotel of Mum and Dad?
Episode 2
We meet long-term lovers Christy and Barry who have been together for five years, and party boys Andrew and Jordan.
Fun-loving Christy lives life to the full and is saving for a boob job while 'boring' Barry has already saved his share of a house deposit. They're currently living with Barry's dad and his girlfriend in Stevenage. Both agree it's time to grow up and move out, but there's one thing that the couple are at loggerheads on - money.
When Christy and Barry move into their own place, how will bossy princess Christy cope when she's not used to lifting a finger herself? Why do it yourself when you've got other people to do it for you? How will Barry cope with being bossed around? And with Christy being surprised at being expected to pay for water, will Barry be able to get her to rein her spending in and will she put independent living with Barry before her much-wanted boob job?
In the Scottish Borders are Andrew and Jordan, who have been together for a year. They live in a crowded house with Andrew's parents and siblings. Andrew is desperate to move into their own place, but Jordan thinks paying out all that money on rent will ruin their social life.
With a drinks bill between them of around £800 per month and only £80 per month going out on rent, can Andrew really persuade Jordan they can have both a swanky party pad and a social life? And will Andrew's dad turn their bedroom into a home gym when they're gone?
Episode 3
We meet odd couple Jack and Olivia from Norwich and sci-fi fanatics Ellie Rose and Mitch.
Funny man Jack is refusing to grow up. He doesn't see why he should have to move out of his girlfriend's home when he has all the benefits of being looked after by a mum without any of the nagging. His girlfriend Olivia describes their relationship as more 'parent and child' than boyfriend and girlfriend, but despite this she is still desperate to move out of home and go it alone with her very own Peter Pan.
But as they move into their own place, could the strain of Olivia having to become mum to her man become too much? And will her mum get used to having her own space and not want them back at all? Will Jack want to run back to being cosseted or will he pull his finger out and fulfil his dream of being a stand-up comedian? Can this experience turn a Peter Pan boy into a man?
And there's another one in Norwich who is refusing to grow up. Mummy's boy Mitch is used to his mum waiting on him hand and foot and it's driving his girlfriend Ellie mad. She's desperate for Mitch to cut the apron strings and get a place of their own. But there's one problem - his mum just doesn't want to let him go.
Can Ellie finally persuade Mitch to get a job and start earning so they can stand on their own two feet and get their own place? Or will this mummy's boy be running home at the end of the week?
