I Hate My Kitchen - Season 3
Season 3
Episodes
Yellow, Yellow Go Away
Josh Trevorrow and Katie Comstock renovated the bathroom in their 1948 adobe-style home, and they even fixed up the living room. But the very yellow, very dated kitchen is well beyond their novice skills. So James is gonna pull this grandma-style kitchen into the present, but it'll be a challenge to stick to the homeowners' budget of only $13,000. Floating wood panel floors, eye-catching and wallet-friendly marble laminate and salvaged furniture and cabinets give Josh and Katie's kitchen a whole new look without breaking the bank - and thanks to their DIY efforts, they even finish a full two grand under budget!
Urban Country
Paula and Mike found their 1933 Tudor house two and a half years ago, and at the time about 12 people were living there and the place was filthy. But Paula and Mike saw potential and snapped the home up. Since then, they have refinished the floors, painted walls, refurbished the fireplace and renovated the basement with new carpet and paint. They have also redone the bathroom and worked on the landscaping, adding a fence in the backyard. Now it's finally the kitchen's turn, with its cracked, dirty countertops, exposed wiring, nasty linoleum flooring and faux backsplash.
French-Country Kitchen
Jarvis and Mariah have a dark, closed-off kitchen, but they're dreaming of a more open plan with French Country style. Luckily, James is ready to transform the dated space into something warmer and more inviting. Jarvis and Mariah have a budget of $23,000, but they already have appliances. So their plan is to spend big on granite countertops and rustic finishes like a brick backsplash and stone veneer floor.
Layout Lamentations
Eight years ago Chris and Erin Farmer bought a 100-year-old craftsman bungalow. They love its classic style, but vintage charm can come with few challenges. The old and ugly kitchen is small, and its layout is lousy. Now, they're ready to renovate, but they aren't sure how to fix the awkward floor plan. Contractor James Young will help them turn their cramped space into a stylish open kitchen.
Cramped Quarters
Mike and Becca Ahern have a problem: a growing family and cramped quarters. Their 1960s-style kitchen suffers from corners that make cooking a struggle and hanging cabinets that are more like a wall! Now, with their first child on the way, it's time for Becca and Mike to break on through - with a full kitchen remodel. We'll rearrange the floorplan, open the kitchen into the dining room, and bring in all new appliances. The goal: a family kitchen with classic contemporary style. And we'll do it for under $30,000.
Arts and Crafts with a Twist
Amber and Eric Cameron scored big when they landed a spacious foreclosure in the burbs. The only flaw - the last owners ripped up everything in the middle of the night...right down to the kitchen sink. In order to qualify for a mortgage, they had to come up with a makeshift kitchen - and fast. They threw together random 'free' items, and have themselves a very unattractive, makeshift space. The cabinets are barely attached, they're using an old lab table as their island, and the leaky sink reeks of food. But with the help of contractor James Young, they'll start from scratch and build an arts and crafts masterpiece bursting with color and personal flair.
A Chef's Paradise
Chef Simon Barrow loves to cook. He even works in a spacious, industrial kitchen during the day, but each night returns home to cook dinner in an unkempt corner of his house that Simon calls: embarrassing. His finance, Gillian, agrees-and they're ready to do something about it. The plan: remove a wall into the dining room, tear out all the old fixtures, appliances, and cabinets, and turn this disaster into a dream kitchen. Simon and Gillian have lots of ideas, but on a budget of $30,000 can they make them a reality?
Mod Makeover
Kate Busby and Emmett Van Gorp bought their 1950's house seven years ago and over that time, they've remodeled nearly every inch of their home. They both have a very clean, contemporary style so it's obvious why their brown, 80s kitchen sticks out like a sore thumb. But with the help of contractor James Young, they're going to transform this cramped and dated kitchen into a modern masterpiece that really matches Kate and Emmett's style.
Unfinished Business
Ryan and Lisa Bender started their kitchen renovation over a year ago by redoing the floors, but had to put in on hold for some very good reasons. Lisa found out she was pregnant, and then shortly after discovered she had breast cancer. She got through surgery and the majority of her cancer treatments, and just a few months ago, delivered a beautiful and healthy baby girl. So now - they're ready to finish what they've started. Their kitchen is a bright yellow wasteland - with minimal cabinets, storage space, and some very old appliances. But with the help of contractor James Young, they'll bring in a variety of metals and wood to turn it into a mixed material masterpiece.
Blog Cabin
James teams up with Licensed Contractor & DIY host Matt Blashaw to bring some much-needed love to the empty shell of a kitchen at this year's Blog Cabin in Mathews, VA. With a blank slate to work with, they install all the choices you voted on, from the cabinetry right down to the appliances. And James has a few tricks up his sleeves as he customizes every nook and cranny of the kitchen with some added surprises.

Seventeen years ago Rick and Natalie built their two-story from the ground up. Wasted Space
Two years ago Mike and Liezen left behind their cramped city apartment for a comfy split-level home in the suburbs. After remodeling their basements, the homeowners have their sights set on updating their dated 1970s-style kitchen. With the help of host and licensed contractor James Young, this kitchen will get a new life as a functional contemporary masterpiece.
