Last Minute Brunch
A last minute brunch for three couples and three kids is no problem in Kelsey's house! From shopping to cooking to sweet desserts, she'll show you how to get it done and get it done quickly. We begin with Kelsey in Essex Market where she shares tips on how to navigate a grocery store with a toddler in tow and only twenty minutes to spare. In the kitchen, Kelsey begins with a savory Chorizo Frittata to be paired with a bright Charred Citrus Salad. Since savory is never complete without sweet, we end brunch with an Oatmeal Berry Cobbler, topped with Mom's recipe for Lemon Whipped Cream.
Urban Farming
Kelsey heads to a local Urban Farm to get inspired by the produce, and then shares her essential tips and recipes. Recipes: Lemon-Scented Crispy Chicken Thighs With Potatoes and Baby Carrots, Green Goddess Dressing for a delicious crudite, Sauteed Mustard Greens With Pancetta and Red Pepper Jelly.
Date Night
Is that romance or garlic bread I smell? It's both! Because it's an Italian themed date night in Kelsey and Robby's House. These young parents only get one night a month to themselves, so they can't screw it up. Kelsey decides to make things extra special by heading down to Bread's Bakery for some fresh baked carbs. While she's there, Bread's resident chef Kelly teaches her how to make a fresh boule. Then, in the kitchen, Kelsey teaches us how to turn that boule into a Split Cheesy Garlic bread. The night's romantic Italian theme is brought together with by savory Antipasti Salad and a tasty Spinach and Artichoke Skillet Lasagna. Finally, Date Night ends with Kelsey's chocolaty spin on the Italian classic dessert, Tiramisu.
After Hour Eats
When the city falls asleep some restaurants are just waking up to serve decadent dishes to those looking for a little something indulgent after midnight. Kelsey homage to late night dining is reinventing a favorite comfort food, a mac and cheese like you've never seen before! First up is a Baked Tomato Stuffed with a Creamy Bacon Mac and Cheese. Then it's a Parmesan-Crusted Grilled Cheese stuffed with what else ... mac and cheese. And nothing says decadence like crispy Shoestring Fries With Truffle Aioli. Get ready for the most surprising after hours eats!
Spice & Easy
Don't let your Spice Rack intimidate you any longer! Fight the fear and take your meals from bland to taste bud banging with Kelsey's tips for cooking with her essential spices. First, Kelsey takes a field trip to S.O.S. Chef's to experiment with new spices and build her own Everyday Blend. Back in the kitchen, Kelsey uses her newfound spicy knowledge to make a Pan Seared Crispy Halibut topped with a Zesty Tartar Sauce, Pickled Cucumber Carrot Slaw, and Oven Roasted Potatoes with her Everyday Spice Blend. Finally, Kelsey brings the spice all the way to dessert with her Cinna-Spiced Creme Brulee.
My Trip to San Fran
Kelsey remembers her trip to San Francisco, its Spanish cuisine and the latest twist on a classic Spanish dish -- paella, made with noodles instead of rice. The new tread inspires Kelsey's version of Fideos with shrimp and chorizo with a smoky paprika aioli. And you can't talk about San Francisco without making a classic buttery and fluffy Pilaf. She finishes her San Fran feast with a Green Goddess Crab Tapas. It's Spanish flair west coast style!
Breakfast for Dinner
Free the egg! Liberate the waffle! They aren't just for breakfast anymore! Kelsey Nixon shares her favorite family tradition of serving breakfast for dinner. First, join her and family at EJ's Diner in New York City, where they find inspiration in their pancakes. Next, catch up with Kelsey in the kitchen as she prepares a sweet and savory dinner of Cheddar Jalapeno Waffles, Burst Tomato Bacon and Avocado Egg Scramble. Last but not least, wash it all down with a Mango Pineapple Punch Slush.
Straight Out of Tokyo
Kelsey discovers the latest trend in Japanese cuisine with a visit to Yuji Haraguchi, and his unique approach to ramen. Yuji bucks all trends and uses "mazemaen" a dry ramen, and no broth. His blend of dry ramen combined with American favorites like egg, bacon or lox and cheese has Yuji Americanizing a Japanese favorite dish. Kelsey also visits Mimi and Coco who have reinvented a Japanese savory favorite by making Americanized teriyaki balls. She then heads back to her kitchen inspired and makes a roasted shrimp, corn and bacon ramen. And then it's a mouthwatering grilled hamachi collar with a ponzu dipping sauce.
Frozen Fixes
Your freezer is your friend, let Kelsey Nixon show you the way! Most people don't know how to use their freezer and worry that freezing food means less nutrition, but that is not the case. Kelsey heads to Babeth's Feast in New York City to shop and learn about the versatility of frozen foods. Then, she takes her frozen finds back to the kitchen where she whips up a freezer-friendly feast of Sweet Potato and Black Bean Empanadas and Moroccan Meatballs with Spicy Tomato Sauce. Finally, the meal is topped off by a dessert of Oat Crumb Topping paired with frozen berries.
Hooray for the Holidays
Entertaining friends and family during the holidays doesn't always mean baking a whole turkey, ham, or cake: bite size savory and sweet treats are quick ways to get the taste of the holidays to your guests in no time. Kelsey gets all of her favorite flavors of a turkey meal into one bite with Potato Latkes topped with Smoked Turkey Leg and Sweet Kumquat Chutney. Her favorite stuffing recipe packs big flavor into little Crispy Prosciutto cups. For dessert, a twist on a classic: Gingerbread Cake Truffles mixed with lemon ginger icing and topped with melted white chocolate and toasted pistachios. Kelsey is making entertaining for the holidays that much easier with some amazing bite size morsels.
Girls Night In
In desperate need of a night in with the girls? Kelsey Nixon has got you covered! From table flowers to party favors to kitchen shortcuts, entertaining your girlfriends has never been this fun and easy. Just pick a theme and go! First, Kelsey heads out to buy some handy kitchen gadget gifts for her guests. Then, back at home, she treats her friends to an Indian-themed feast of Roasted Cauliflower with Spiced Yogurt Sauce, Cucumber Raita Salad, Cilantro Chutney, Garam Masala-Glazed Carrots and Mango Lassis.
Snack Attack
Wish you could make your favorite snack at home? Kelsey shows us with a little inspiration and essential ingredients, anything is possible! After visiting S'mores Bakery and seeing how they turned an American favorite snack -- the s'mores -- upside down by adding unexpected flavors like orange-cardamom, espresso and lavender, she heads back to her kitchen to make her version of one of her all time favorite snacks -- a microwave chocolate cake with peanut butter cream. Kelsey then heads to Kings County Jerky to see how they reinvented the traditional jerky by making a grass fed jerky with flavors like Korean BBQ and Mole. Kelsey makes her version of dried leather by serving up homemade fruit leather. And last, Kelsey makes a "snack attack" of fried chickpeas with parmesan, lemon and almonds.
