Episode 3

Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer tackle one of their biggest challenges to date, in the Tyneside seaside town of Whitley Bay. Sarah and Sean share a sprawling six-bedroom, three-storey Victorian semi with their five kids. It may have plenty of sleeping space but the kitchen's cramped, the garden's like a postage-stamp, and all seven of them share one bathroom. Sarah, who's deeply attached to their beachside lifestyle and her home-run re-usable cloth nappy business, insists that they stay, in the firm belief that knocking down walls will solve everything. But Sean's done with the galley kitchen, lack of outside space, and constant chaos of seven people sharing one toilet! And he dreads uncovering problems from a house that constantly 'fights back' during renovations. Of course, Kirstie loves knocking down walls, and she has a £70,000 budget to modernise inside while also preserving the Victorian charm. But emergency maintenance soon stretches her funds to the limit. Meanwhile, Phil scours the market with his £650,000 budget, finding some stunning homes that tempt Sean. But Sarah digs in, which puts the final decision on a knife's edge. Will the family love their seaside semi, or list it?
