Pilot
Former wild child Mel Burke has just been elected as city council person for Toledo, Ohio. However, in addition to her new job, she is also forced into raising her niece, Lennox, and her nephew, Ryder. Lennox and Ryder's father, Louis Scanlon, was part of a ponzi scheme and fled the country. Their mother was sent to prison, leaving Mel as the only option. Joe Longo, a former employee of Louis and lost all of his money. His wife kicked him out and left him with nothing. Joe tracks down Mel for information on Louis. Their paths continue to cross until Mel accidentally offers Joe a job to help her take care of the kids. Lennox got suspended from school and Joe saves the day getting Lennox to talk to the principal and accept her punishment.

Moving On
Mel dates a guy with ulterior motives. Joe deals with getting his stuff back from his ex-wife, most importantly his flat screen TV. Lennox tries to make friends in her new school.

Nanny Love
As Joe comes to terms with his divorce and begins to settle into the idea of being a "manny," he decides it may be a good opportunity to date. He soon discovers, however, women aren't exactly drawn to male nannies. Mel, not wanting to see Joe upset, mainly because she doesn't want her gourmet meals to stop, sets him up by deceiving a former sorority sister about his occupation. Joey's in on the rouse, but will they be able to keep up the charade?

Boy Toys 'R' Us
Lennox starts dating a bad boy that Mel disapproves of, while Mel is also dating a bad boy of her own. Joe takes it upon himself to reorganize Mel‘s closet.

The Perfect Storm
Burbank, CA - Mel discovers that Lennox is failing one of her classes, so Joe encourages her to lay down the law. But when Mel's dad, former Senator Burke, comes to town, he lures the kids to break the rules. After he invites Lennox to come live with him in DC, Mel and Joe attempt to use some reverse psychology to get her to do the right thing.

Spies & Lies
Mel catches Joe with a woman in the house in the middle of the day, someone Joe tries to pass off as a girlfriend. Mel believes him at first, asking him to be discreet with the kids, but later overhears a conversation and discovers that Joe and this woman are secretly tracking down Mel's con-man brother-in-law, and she questions Joe's motives for wanting to be her manny in the first place. Meanwhile, as Joe's been pretending to be a spy, he's totally missed the fact that Ryder seems to be slowly "losing" all of his new belongings at school.

Up Close & Personal
Mel is working on her public image and invites a TV reporter to do a story on her and the kids. Celeste Vega (Valery Ortiz) finds out that Mel has a male nanny working for her and shifts the story to Joe. Stephanie alerts Joe that the piece is not flattering for Mel. Joe goes down to Celeste‘s office to defend Mel.

Dancing with the Stars of Toledo
As city council woman, Mel is asked to participate in a local - Dancing with the Stars' fundraiser - forcing her to step out of her comfort zone. Joe steps in to help train Mel for the competition, but when personalities clash, Mel wastes no time in finding a new partner in professional dancer Mark Ballas from "Dancing with the Stars." On the day of the competition, however, Mel's new found dancing confidence leads to her downfall - leaving Joe and Mark to clean up her mess.

Seoul Man
Due to a recent scandal at the city council, Mel is asked to prove Joe's legal working status in the United States. Much to her surprise, Joe was born in Korea while his family was stationed abroad, and he can't find his legal documents. Meanwhile, when Lennox decides to go to a school dance with one of her girlfriends, rumors start circulating about her sexuality.

In Lennox We Trust
Burbank, CA - Mel is concerned about Lennox's friends and suggests she spend some time hanging out with the son of the mayor (McGinley). But when he proves to be a less stellar example, their relationship could interfere with Mel's community health plans. Mel has to learn to be a little less judgmental when it comes to Lennox's friends, and Joe isn't above snooping to find out if Lennox is lying. Ryder uses their oddball neighbor, Mrs. Geller, to complete his community service requirements.

A Fright in the Attic
Mel hears something in the attic but when she goes to investigate it is the last thing she expected.

Joe Knows
Burbank, CA - Joe wants to get back into the business world, so he creates his own web series giving out financial tips, with Ryder as his cameraman. Joe asks Mel to become an investor to help get the series off the ground, but she is not the silent partner he hoped for and has several suggestions, some of which do not sit well with Joe. Meanwhile, Lennox gets tutored by a geeky kid from school who she develops feelings for.

Joe's ex, Tiffany, tries to rekindle their relationship

Don't Train on My Parade
In "Don't Train on My Parade", Mel hires a personal trainer, Lindsay, to get in shape for a school charity run. After Mel catches Joe in a compromising position with Lindsay, Mel and Joe agree to see Lindsay on separate schedules. Meanwhile, Lennox rekindles a platonic friendship with a geeky classmate who used to have a crush on her, but now that he's dating her friend, some jealousy sets in.

Lost in Translation
In "Lost in Translation," Mel has an important deal with a Japanese businessman and asks Joe to teach her Japanese. When the businessman's son arrives in his place and speaks no English, Joe has to translate between the two. When the Japanese businessman develops a romantic interest in Mel, Joe sabotages the translation. Meanwhile, Lennox is forced to work with her ex-best friend on a school project, and Ryder tries to mediate.

Joe Versus the Reunion
In "Joe Versus the Reunion", after debating whether to show his face after the tumultuous year he's had, Joe ultimately decides to go to his 10-year college reunion. On the same evening, per the Mayor's request, Mel goes out to dinner with an artist to discuss bringing his installations to Toledo. But when Mel gets a call from a depressed Joe at his reunion, she rushes over there to surprise him by posing as his girlfriend and save the day - only to realize that in the meantime, Joe has found and reconnected with an old flame. And Lennox and Ryder decide to throw a party with Mel and Joe out for the evening, but it does not go as planned.

Toledo's Next Top Model
In "Toledo's Next Top Model," Lennox gets scouted by a modeling agency at the mall and is excited by the prospect. Mel remains skeptical of the career path until she sees how much money Lennox could be make to help towards college. However, agency owner Tasha pushes Lennox beyond her comfort zone. Meanwhile, Joe gives Ryder dating advice when he starts seeing a girl from school, but her increasing demands make Ryder second-guess his relationship.

The Mel Word
Mel plans a wedding at her home; Lennox and Ryder work on a documentary.

Auction Hero
Mel volunteers Joe for a school charity auction but the winner of the auction may have ulterior motives.

Waiting for Mr. Right
Mel feels the pressure to find someone after her last single friend gets engaged.

Young Love
Mel starts a romance with a younger man. Lennox challenges a classmate to be the editor of the school blog.

Mel and Joe's Anniversary
Mel's new younger boyfriend George throws a party for Mel to meet his friends. Meanwhile, Joe confronts his ex-wife for going on a date at their spot on their anniversary.

Going the Distance?
Joe teases Mel about her relationship with George as things start to get serious. But when George gets an amazing job offer, Mel is a little less excited...because the job is in Italy. Mel contemplates what do next in this complicated situation. Meanwhile, Ryder meets Holly's interesting parents.

All Politics is Local
Mel's dad comes back to town to support a bill Mel opposes. Meanwhile, Lennox's poetry proves popular with a classmate who's an aspiring singer.

The Other Longo
Joe's younger brother visits and takes an interest in Mel.

Teacher/Teacher
Joe gets Ryder in trouble with his teacher; Mel sneaks Lennox into an 18-and-over concert.

Play Ball
Mel recruits Joe to play on her office softball team, as she is determined to beat her rival's team (Tom Wilson). Meanwhile, Ryder wants Lennox to feature Holly's short story in the school blog.

A House Divided
Mel and Joe get into a property dispute with their neighbor; Ryder films a PSA starring Lennox.

Do as I Say, Not as I Did
Fearing that she will give into peer pressure, Mel and Joe follow Lennox to her all night after-party. Meanwhile, while studying with another girl, Ryder seizes the opportunity to stand up to Holly.

The Settlement
Joe considers newfound possibilities, when he comes into a large sum of money. Meanwhile, a water leak is found on the living room ceiling.
