Daedalus Patrick Murphy, a crack insurance investigator with a tainted past finds stability with a roommate, Kimiko. Murphy is a reformed alcoholic with three things on his mind - seeing his daughter, bedding his beautiful Eurasian roommate and avoiding all work. Murphy investigates the abrupt demise of an heiress who left $2 million to her husband.

A lady and his younger lover are the main suspects in a murder case that involved the owner of a fashion firm. Murphy must lead the lovers to confess the crime after his new boss demands more efficiency from the investigator.

Murphy gets the chance to see the daughter (Sarah Sawatsky) he's never met by taking a missing-necklace case. Daedadelus Murphy, insurance investigator, is intrigued at the prospect of handling a case that involves his ex-wife, Marissa, because it will mean a meeting with Katherine, his daughter, after years of fighting for visitation rights. But first he's got to tackle two claims that on the surface seem simple, one involving a veterinarian and a ship's captain.

Murphy gets into a quandary with several old bar cronies, two killers and the law while doing a favor for a former drinking buddy. Murphy gets involved in a murder coverup when he comes to the aid of an old drinking buddy who's in debt to a bookie.

Murphy battles the loud nightclub he lives above and winds up in the middle of an FBI "sting" operation. Insurance investigator Murphy and his roomie, Kimiko, live above a nightclub. When the joint makes too much noise and disturbs their sleep. Murphy decides to try to close it down. That lands him in the midst of an FBI sting operation.

An arson investigator's too brief report about Ethiopian relief supplies makes Murphy suspect foul play.

A stolen-motorcycle case vrooms through Murphy's life just as he's trying to become a model of stability for a family-court caseworker. One of Murphy's  claims becomes a lawsuit when Wes and Kimi steal a motorcycle.

An irate claimant holds Kimi hostage in Murphy's office; Murphy's wife hires an investigator to plant microphones in his apartment.

Kimi and Murphy go to great lengths to get Wes to return to the job he chucked because of Victor, the obnoxious new acting vicepresident. However, even Victor is up for a surprise, a new vicepresident is appointed, an obnoxious woman named Morgana DeSade (she insists that it's Dyu-Shadá).

Wes swears he will get rid of Morgana, the new vice-president, who is making everyone's lives miserable. Nevertheless, his death wish comes true and he winds up as the main suspect in her murder. Meanwhile, Murphy receives the visit of his unpleasant Aunt Cornellia, a mystery authoress. To help Wes, Murphy and Kimi hold a party for murder suspects to uncover the perpetrator of the murder.
