La iaia del David, la Sunción, ha aparegut per sorpresa al pis dels nois perquè diu que sent una cosa en el seu cos que l'indica que d'aquí dos dies es morirà i no vol fer-ho sola. La iaia és una dona de 90 anys una mica curta de vista i d'oïda, de manera que confon al Lopes i a l'Emma amb la dona i l'amant del David respectivament. A més, es queda a dormir a l'habitació del Lopes i ell ha de dormir a la sala en un "plegatin". Queda poca estona perquè la iaia es mori, de manera que decideixen passar tota la tarda resant amb la iaia. Els nois s'adormen mentre la iaia resa i quan es desperten, se la troben amb els ulls ben oberts i totalment quieta. Es pensen que s'ha mort però, de sobte, la iaia es desperta i està molt desorientada, ja no sent que s'hagi de morir. Com que abans de venir al pis va vendre tot el que tenia, ara no té on anar a viure i decideix quedar-se a viure amb els nois per sempre. Aquests estan ben desesperats perquè no poden continuar més així, de manera que intenten desempallegar-se d'ella com poden.
