When a scientist at pharmceutical company Chemacran dies suddenly after promising him a big story, Terry begins investigating the company's antidepressant, Seraban, whose success has led to a forthcoming lucrative merger, while Maureen tries to get the scoop on J.P. O'Farrell, Chemacran's managing director.

Terry and Cora go to Plunkett's house and discover his dead body, which convinces them that both scientists were killed for their knowledge about Chemacran. Meanwhile, Maureen digs up dirt on the merger for her interview with O'Farrell.

Maureen probes the connection between the CEO of the American pharmaceutical company and a racist politician. Tessa cleans up the debris and graffiti from her shop in an effort to get on with her life. Terry and Cora suspect that Jake's blackout is tied to Seraban usage.

Terry connects politician Gerry Rogan's stake in the pharmaceutical company and his time on a government board overseeing the clinical trials of the drug Seraban. He rushes to confront O'Farrell before the merger deal is signed and more people are hurt, but Maureen might already be in danger.
