Nicole attempts to salvage as many original elements as possible and restore this home to its former glory.

Kitchen Reconstruction
Now that walls are up and plumbing is roughed in, Detroit's Ransom Gillis House is ready for the next phase of its renovation. Nicole Curtis tackles the kitchen and dining room in this iconic 1800s mansion. With new hardwood floors, grand cabinets and stained glass, the modern kitchen and dining room designs remain reminiscent of the home's historic feel. However, the renovation has its fair share of challenges.

Grand Staircase & Glorious Living Room
Now that the kitchen and dining room have been renovated, it's time for Nicole Curtis to revamp the living room and foyer of the Ransom Gillis House. The renovation takes an unexpected turn when Nicole finds out what the original staircase would have looked like. She is going to spare no expense in order to salvage as many of the original elements as she possibly can.

Master Suite Makeover
Nicole Curtis is halfway through the renovation of Detroit's iconic Ransom Gillis House. With the entire first floor completed, she moves upstairs to tackle the master bedroom suite. Nicole plans to bring the master bedroom back to its original splendor with beautiful stained glass and antique trim that was salvaged from the house.

A Jeweled Turret
Nicole Curtis renovates the upstairs turret bedroom and the Ransom Gillis turret in this iconic Detroit mansion. Since so little of the Turret's original framework remains, it takes Nicole and her entire army of trades to rebuild it. A Brush Park neighbor and fellow restoration enthusiast has a surprise that will help Nicole with her mission. With a new frame, roof and windows, this defining architectural element of the house comes back to life.

Mantle Bedroom Mayhem
Nicole Curtis restores the upstairs mantel bedroom and the connected Jack and Jill bathroom in the Ransom Gillis House. She does her best to preserve the original details left in the space, such as the original slate fireplace.

Rebuilding a Back House
Now that the front house has come together beautifully, it's time for Rehab Addict Nicole Curtis to turn her attention to the back unit of the Ransom Gillis house. All of the trades work together to ensure that the back unit renovation goes just as seamlessly as the front. Subtle details throughout the house recall the original grandeur of this 1800s Victorian mansion.

It All Comes Together
Rehab Addict Nicole Curtis has completed the interior renovations on the Ransom Gillis house, and now all that's left to focus on is the exterior. The finished brickwork, new slate roof, iron cresting, and ornate stained glass windows make this house truly unique. With the help of local volunteers, the exterior landscaping comes together swiftly in preparation for the open house. Then Detroiters line up around the block to see the restored majesty of one of Detroit's most iconic mansions.
