Star, a tough-as-nails young woman who came up in the foster care system, tracks down her sister, Simone, and her Instagram bestie, Alexandra, and together, the trio journeys to Atlanta with the hope of becoming music superstars.

The Devil You Know
While Star, Alexandra and Simone work on a demo for their chance to perform at a music festival, Roland Crane and his wife, Rose, come into town, revealing a big secret that threatens to destroy the group. Star then goes to extreme measures and risks it all to try to get her music produced by Roland. Meanwhile, Carlotta and Jahil go head-to-head, each trying to keep their secrets buried as someone's life hangs in the balance.

Next of Kin
Carlotta's protective nature is in full force as someone close to her is in jeopardy. Trying to raise enough money for a recording session, Jahil finds himself in great danger. Meanwhile, Simone's past continues to haunt her and Star goes to great lengths to make sure her sister is safe.

Code of Silence
Carlotta continues to search for the truth about Simone and Star's past, as a familiar face reaches out for Jahil's help. Meanwhile, Miss Bruce works on preparing the salon to compete in an upcoming hair show. They unexpectedly arrange for the empress of soul, Gladys Knight, to introduce their showcase, which includes a live performance from the girls, who sing a cover of one of Knight's classic hits.

New Voices
After getting a glimpse of their local competition, tensions rise between the three girls as they work on revamping their style. Simone discovers old tapes of her mother's, but Carlotta wants nothing to do with them - and she isn't the only one who feels that way. Meanwhile, Star puts her new relationship in jeopardy and Jahil finds himself in a sticky situation of his own.

Infamous
When Star, Simone and Alex are invited to perform at a fancy charity event, Jahil puts Alex in the lead and strongly encourages Star to ditch Hunter. Ultimately, Star still manages to be the star, while Jahil dodges a debt.

Black Wherever I Go
Things get out of control during a rally Derek organizes in response to the sudden loss of a close friend. Then, when Star doesn't show up for an important rehearsal, Alex and Simone are forced to have someone else step in for her. Meanwhile, Eva's intentions are revealed.

Mama's Boy
During a neighborhood block party fundraiser, Hunter surprises Star by inviting superstar recording artist/producer Pumpkin to the event. Alexandra revaluates her dreams of stardom when her mother, Rose Spencer shows up with an irresistible proposal. Meanwhile, Jahil explores a new opportunity and Cotton agrees to meet with Pastor Harris, hoping to mend her relationship with her mother.

Alibi
Otis' murder wreaks havoc on God's Blessings Beauty Salon, and threatens to break up the family. More information is revealed about Carlotta's troubled past, Jahil is faced with an ultimatum and Cotton moves out.

Boy Trouble
As the girls get ready for Atlanta Next Fest, a shocking development puts the group and their dreams in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Carlotta and Cotton are still at odds, but when a secret comes out, it changes things forever and the girls learn some shocking news.

Saving Face
Star and Hunter take their relationship to the next level, while Rose (guest star Naomi Campbell) returns to help Alex and Derek deal with the aftermath of a traumatic experience. Carlotta reveals her reasoning for keeping a secret to herself for all of these years, and Cotton does the unthinkable to the one person she trusts the most. Meanwhile, the girls have a publicity photo shoot with social media guru Rachel Wells (guest star Paris Jackson), and someone is finally arrested and charged for Otis' murder.

Showtime
Star is troubled as she deals with the aftermath of Hunter's actions, while Derek and Alex struggle to make an important decision about their future. With Atlanta NextFest quickly approaching, the girls are putting the finishing touches on their routine. Will it be enough or will this be the end of their musical dream? Carlotta is determined to mend broken relationships, while Jahil tries to get back in the good graces of the girls.
