Yve Gibney met fellow Brit Maurice after moving to Nigeria in the 90s and they hit it off instantly. Yve and Maurice married and had a son together. But by 2011 Maurice is working abroad in Oman and cancelling plans with his family.
Maurice has been making secret trips back to the UK. Yve traces these to an address near Birmingham. When she calls, she is told by the man who answers that Maurice is his brother-in-law… and when she sees a wedding photo online she realises that man the blushing bride is staring lovingly at is her husband Maurice! But Yve and Maurice are still married.
So Yve starts her own ‘private investigation' with incredible twists and turns to uncover the truth.

1998, on a night out on Merseyside with her best mate Anna, Sue Hughes instantly falls for a nightclub bouncer. Anna says he's her uncle Steve. Sue and ‘Ste' spark up a relationship through texting which continues until 2003, when he moves to Las Vegas.
Then in 2010 Ste apparently develops cancer and seeks expensive experimental treatment. Sue sends more than £100,000, via her best friend Anna. But finally Sue discovers Anna has been lying to her for 20 years. Anna has taken all of Sue's money and ‘Ste' does not really exist. The person Sue has been talking to for more than two decades was Anna all along.

Carol Goodall and Gary Rogers' big day is all set. The pair met online, and a whirlwind romance followed. But then, after Carol has sold her house and given the proceeds to Gary to invest, he starts disappearing at weekends.
Carol receives a suspicious text message: "Whatever you and Gary are playing at, it's not very nice." The sender tells Carol she is also engaged to Gary. After the pair contact the police, detectives and the women themselves join forces in an incredible plot to uncover that Gary is not who Carol thinks he is. His name's not Gary Rogers, and he's a serial conman with dozens of aliases, and he has to be stopped.

Eventually Di gives him more than £40,000. After Kevin fails to meet with Di, she goes to the police. Detectives follow the money and discover that Kevin is actually a gang of criminals, operating a sophisticated con.

Kris suggests she gives him a short-term loan and he will pay her daughter's school fees. But when Kris doesn't return the money, Annemarie gets suspicious. Is Kris who he says he is? And is Annemarie the only victim of his deception?
