When Joe Morgan gives Andrew a personal gift of five guineas-Andrew is unprepared for the chain of events that this gesture brings about.

Aberalaw presents a new challenge to Andrew, but it proves initially unsuccessful when he refuses to issue sick certificates to men who are obviously faking.

Part 5
Andrew tells Llewellyn that he and all the other assis ant doctors think that their salary payments to him are unfair, and that Andrew has arranged a meeting with them to resolve it.
