The country is in shock and divided as Oliver Cromwell puts the King on trial for treason and becomes the first head of the Republican Government.

Episode 4
Sexby is arrested and exiled after he refuses to fight for Cromwell. Angelica is distraught but agrees to honour Sexby's departing wish and settle her debt with her enemy Joliffe.
