Gopher finds a sizable amount of money and has a hilarious dream in which he becomes an admiral and gives various orders to the other crew members. Meanwhile, a famous country singer meets an old flame who has political aspirations and a jealous girlfriend. Plus, a beautiful girl's father ruins her romantic prospects with a handsome man.

Academy Award-winning actress Joan Fontaine stars as a beautiful, fun-loving woman with a secret who meets a former love aboard ship; an inept German detective almost turns the ship upside down when the jewels of the woman who has hired him are stolen; and the ship's temperamental chef quits when a female chef joins the staff.

An earthy woman comes between a socialite and her escort; psychic researchers search for a ghost aboard the ship; Vicki meets an older boy traveling alone.

The crew is in Australia to work on one of the cruise line's ships based there. And a wealthy man named Farnsworth has decided to invite his whole family for a reunion. But, in actuality, he wants to see who, among them, he should keep in his will. And among them is his niece, Marcia, who is not exactly fond of him, because she believes that, because of him, her father became penniless. 

After having spent time with his family, William Farnsworth has finally decided who will be kept in his will.

A couple plan to renew their marriage vows aboard the ship; a tooth filling interferes with Isaac's romantic pursuits with his girlfriend and he also has a rival from a male passenger; two sisters take the cruise together and one sister develops a relationship with another passenger.

Two stowaways pretend to be another couple and they start charging things, not knowing that the crew members, who approve of the charges, will have to pay for items they charge but don't pay for. A woman meets the author of a book she's reading. And Doc's brother and sister-in-law come aboard and his brother has a lot of pent-up resentment against him.

Linda Trent, an emotionally cold woman finds herself falling for a Romeo; Shirley Simpson, a widow, is aced out of a romance with an attractive dentist, Dr. Frank Leonhardt, because of her cardplaying companions.

Doc (Bernie Kopell) gets married for the fifth time - to a beautiful woman (Irena Ferris) - but soon faces some heartache; a safety inspector (Don Adams) wreaks hilarious havoc when he literally falls for a gorgeous gal (Britt Ekland); and a sexy female executive (Judy Norton-Taylor) is followed on board by her stuffy boss (Robert Fuller), who finds out she has quit her job because of romantic rumors about them.

In "The Captain's Portrait" written by Richard Albrecht and Casey Keller, a misunderstanding leads Capt. Stubing (MacLeod) to believe that the results will be too revealing when he poses for an artist (Ms. Merriwether) who is painting his portrait for the cruise line. When a gung-ho public relations man (Shroyer) spots a woman (Ms. Golonka) who is a neighbor in his apartment building, he does everything in his power to get her attention but she won't bend her strict rule against becoming involved with her neighbors, in "Good Neighbors," written by Tony Webster. In "Familiar Faces" a recently married couple (Butler and Ms. McDonough) is ecstatically happy until the groom sees a man (Henry Jones) with whom he had a dangerous encounter during his youth. When they meet, the outcome may destroy the new marriage.

In "Gopher's Roommate," written by Ben Joelson and Art Baer, Gopher (Grandy) is sure he recognizes an attractive woman (Mackenzie Phillips). When Gopher finally places her, he and the ship's crew are quite surprised at the outcome. In "I Don't Play Anymore," written by Lan O'Kun, a well-known concert pianist (James MacArthur) suffering from a severe malady decides to come out of retirement at a wealthy couple's (Joyce Jameson and Pat McCormick) expense after he meets a lovely ship's maid who shares a secret with him. In 'Crazy for You,'' written by Christopher Vane and Jill Baer, a man (Dick Shawn) trying to claim worker's compensation for insanity goes crazy over the psychologist (Joanna Cassidy) who has followed him on board.

In ''Past Perfect Love," written by Haskell Barkin, when Gary Michaels (Convy) boards the ship, he is positive that he was formerly married to beautiful Diane Dayton (Ms. Roberts). Julie (Ms. Tewes) decides to change her hairstyle, which causes embarrassment for the crew members because they can't stop laughing. When Julie tries to dye by her own hand, matters become even worse, in ''Green, but Not Jolly,'' written by Tony Webster. In "Instant Family," written by Donald Ross, when George Wettling (John Phillip Law) becomes romantically involved with a woman who is accompanied by her son (Ms. George and Feldman), he discovers an important secret shared by the two.

An old flame of the Captain's returns for a cruise. As the captain prepares to propose, Doc and Isaac discovers some news, which will cause the Captain some distress. Two business partners and their secretary are on the cruise to celebrate winning a large contract. One partner is not as honest as he seems and tries to use his secretary's love for him to cover his underhanded tricks. A businessman takes his prissy secretary on a business trip. When he meets a dizzy blonde, his problem is how does he get his secretary to quit, so he can hire the blonde. Wilfred offers the crew $10,000 if they can find him a pretty wife. He's soon surrounded by five beautiful women, all fighting for his attention, and the crew trying to win a quick ten grand. When the crew find out Wilfred lied about paying the money so he can meet girls, the crew get the flower shop girl to pretend to be his wife. Two childhood sweethearts, separated since school, ...

In "New York A.C.," three men (Byrnes, Fabian and Sherman) who are members of the New York Alimony Club board for a fun-filled cruise without worries of getting serious about any women. However, once they meet a lovely woman (Ms. Funicello), they are in for a big surprise. When Captain Stubing (Gavin MacLeod) begins to change his behavior patterns after a close friend dies, he learns an important lesson, in "Live it Up." In "All's Affair in Love and War," the girlfriend (Jill St. John) of a married man (Ely) gives him an ultimatum that gains surprising results.

The crew surprises Captain Stubing with the news that they are putting on a musical revue as entertainment for the passengers, with a script co-written by Gopher and Isaac. Gopher's mother RoZ, Julie's Aunt Sylvia, Isaac's mother Millie, and Doc's former mother-in-law Connie Carruthers are all planning to take part but also expecting to star in it. The Captain publicly declines to play the lead role in it, but privately fantasizes about being in it and even practices for it.

Capt. Stubing and his crew kick up their heels in a special two-hour musical extravaganza, ''The Love Boat Follies," a campy tribute to the "let's put on a show" movie musicals of yesteryear, with guest stars Cab Calloway, Carol Channing, Van Johnson, Ethel Merman, Ann Miller and Della Reese. These headliners - and all the series regulars.

Stubing and his sailing adversary pit their respective crews against each other in wild sporting events that start in Vancouver, B.C., and wind up in a tense match of wits and action when the two find themselves competing against each other in Alaska.

April Lopez (Charo) returns with a modest new image after becoming an interpreter for a man who has no idea she's actually a sexy entertainer. Meanwhile, a beautiful widow meets a stranger claiming to be her guardian angel. Plus, a separated couple runs into each other on board the ship, and chaos ensues.

An expensive dress ties all the stories together in this episode. First, the captain helps reunite a poor woman with her daughter, who happens to be traveling aboard the Pacific Princess with her fiance. Then, a doctor is out to prove his new diet works, but ends up getting sweet on another physician. And, a man dons an unusual disguise to win back his ex-wife, who is accompanied by her father, who hates her former husband.

The captain (Gavin MacLeod) and his crew suspect that a beautiful woman (Caren Kaye) is trying to kill her millionaire husband (Arte Johnson); a glamorous divorcee (Eva Gabor) tries to get reacquainted with her son (Brad Savage), who yearns for his dad (Hank Brandt); and a woman (Judy Landers) gets a shock when she meets her supposed pen pal (Eddie Mekka of ABC's "Laverne & Shirley").
