For leaves are the ingenious factories where plants make all their food, but they are also under constant attack from animals large and small. So with spines, stings, poisons and dramatic disappearing tricks, plants work to defend themselves. Some change their leaves into gruesome traps, and so turn the tables on animals and eat them instead!
