Alton and Irulan don't like each other. She hates him. He doesn't hate her but he hates that he loves her. Get it? They really can't stand each other. It's very mature and adult of them that they can deal with each other being in new relationships so soon after their breakup. Except that it's exactly like 9th grade when you broke up with that one girl and then started kissing this other girl that she hated just because it would make her jealous.
