Canadian maple syrup farmer Ruth Landry hits back at bureaucratic exploitation by planning a syrup heist with low-level Boston criminal Mike Byrne and inside man Remy Bouchard.

As the plan for the heist comes together, Ruth is arrested for vandalizing the Association. Meanwhile, big city cop Valerie Nadeau is called in to investigate a murder.

Ruth, Mike and Remy are involved in a white-knuckle race with the police to prevent them discovering evidence that would jeopardize the heist.

The gang reluctantly decide to use physical force to deal with a personnel problem, but Mike's preference for a more permanent solution threatens to leave them all exposed to the police.

As the police investigation into a local murder starts impinging on the plans for the heist, Mike's past arrives with a vengeance and puts everybody in mortal danger.
