The Zoo - Season 1

Season 1
Filmed over an eight-month period, The Zoo takes audiences behind the scenes of the world-renowned Bronx Zoo.
Located 10 miles from Times Square in Manhattan, the Bronx Zoo spans approximately 265 acres and features more than 6,000 animals and a dedicated staff of more than 500 people. Episodes will cover all sorts of cases and animals including: a silverback gorilla with glaucoma, two keeper-raised Malayan tiger cubs preparing for their introduction to their exhibit at Tiger Mountain, and the rescue of an orphaned snow leopard cub from a remote region in Pakistan.

Higher Purpose
Ntondo the silverback gorilla becomes diagnosed with glaucoma and staff devise strategy to keep him comfortable; two keeper-raised Malayan tiger cubs prepare for their introduction to exhibit at Tiger Mountain; two endangered maleo birds form a bond.

Handle with Care
A tomistoma, a freshwater crocodilian, stops laying eggs and a team of keepers scrambles to treat her; the veterinary team has to rescue a baby antelope that isn't getting the care it needs from its mother; Mert the Goose takes a field trip.

Walk on the Wild Side
The future of the American bison depends on a high-stakes race across the country; the reptile staff have their hands full with a diamond rattlesnake that needs to be medicated orally; training a pair of cheetahs to walk the grounds of the zoo.

Moving Day
The Zoo's huge male sea lion is in rut, and staff need to move the younger males before he becomes territorial; the veterinary team come up with a solution to repair Dinky the Flamingo's broken ankle; feeding a rock python proves challenging.

A Star is Born
The birth of a little blue penguin causes a sensation at the Bronx Zoo; the veterinary team scrambles to figure out what is wrong with Snowball, a snow leopard; the exhibits team designs an exhibit for the newly arrived blue iguana.

Love Shack
To help love bloom between two kiwis, zoo staff build an elaborate hut into which they introduce a pair of potential mates; a King Cobra arrives at the zoo.

Birds and the Bees
Leo, a snow leopard rescued from Pakistan, is having trouble eating because of a broken canine; the bird department works feverishly to restore a beehive for the bee-eater birds; Ambassador Center staff work with an adorable Fennex fox named Charlie.

Back to Africa
Zoo staff make the journey to east Africa to return to the wild thousands of toads they helped rescue from extinction; Utu, the test-pilot giraffe, tries out a new piece of equipment; the bird department works to save the lives of millions of birds.
