In this first episode, Davina meets new parents who want to transform the life of their profoundly deaf baby girl, a military couple who share their desire to start a family, a mother and daughter hoping to lose 15 stone between them, an oncology student who has her sights set on becoming Miss England, and a lady with a rare autoimmune condition who pledges to have a brand-new nose. Will all of them achieve their goals?
Episode 2
In the second episode of the new series Davina meets Stephen, aged 45 from Cheltenham. Stephen grew up knowing he had a half-sister called Rosemary who his mother gave up for adoption after falling pregnant when she was very young. Stephen's mum never looked for Rosemary as she didn't want to intrude on her new life. She died five years ago and Stephen found a book of poems she had written including one about Rosemary and what it had meant to give her up. By this time next year, Stephen wants to track down his long-lost sister. Grandmother Denise pledged to Davina that she wanted to learn to read. Denise struggled with dyslexia throughout school but wasn't diagnosed until she was 21 and by that age was too embarrassed to do anything about it. Denise explains how being illiterate controls her daily life and that she is determined to return to education and finally learn to read. Most of all, she wants to be able to read her two grandsons a bedtime story for the very first time. Zoe, aged 40, from Coventry, was a size eight until she had her first son. After that her weight increased and she was 16 stone at her heaviest. After her marriage broke down Zoe was determined to get healthy and has already lost five stone. However she isn't happy with how she looks and plans to have her excess skin removed. She has also pledged to take her fitness to the next level and wants to take to the stage This Time Next Year as a fully fledged bodybuilding fitness champion!This Time Next Year Ben wants to have the confidence to pop the question. Ben, aged 31, from Colchester, has lost all his confidence due to the sudden onset of alopecia, as well as gaining four stone. Over the next year he pledges to have a total makeover; to lose weight, get micropigmentation on his scalp and improve his teeth so he feels like his old self again. Ben's partner of five years Justine has been his total rock throughout and he wants to have the confidence to ask her to be his wife.
Episode 3
In this episode, Davina meets a young couple desperate to start a family against all odds, a brave father hoping to give his young daughter the gift of life for the second time, a single mum looking for love, an IT manager pledging to take to the stage, and a lady who wants nothing more than to be able to hear her children's voices.
Episode 4
In the fourth episode of the new series Davina meets Rebecca who pledges to ‘have a full set of teeth' when they meet again in a year. Rebecca had several teeth pulled out when she was younger and developed such a fear of the dentist that she avoided going. She now has very few teeth left and wants a new set so she can eat what she wants and smile with confidence.
Mum of two Mandy is a part-time music teacher and dreams of making it as an author. She has a novel ready to be published and after years of rejection letters has finally signed to a literary agent. Mandy hopes that by this time next year she will be a published author.
Samantha was born with Talipes, a clubfoot, and underwent surgeries as a child to correct it. Although it was corrected, as she got older, it began to cause her unbearable pain and she took the decision to have the lower part of her leg amputated. Now her pledge is to be able to walk in high heels - something she has never been able to do before.
Sean, a dad of three, was diagnosed with non Hodgkins Lymphoma and after two rounds of chemotherapy was advised to have a bone marrow transplant. Just 45 days later Seanwas matched to a donor in the USA and underwent the transplant. Sean's pledge for this time next year is to meet the man who saved his life.
Episode 5
In the fifth episode of the second series, Davina meets an 11-year-old meningitis survivor hoping to have hands, a young couple with fertility complications that dream of starting a family of their own, parents whose only wish is for their young son to take his first steps, and a man who shed half his body weight but has an unsightly reminder of his past.
Episode 6
In the last of the series, Davina McCall meets a man pledging to walk again after a motorcycle accident, and a schoolgirl hoping for a record deal.
