Episode 8
In the final programme, vet Fiona Crowden gets called out to a cattle farm in Wick where a cow carrying a calf has fallen down and can't get up. She needs to identify if the cow was weakened, causing her to fall down, or whether she has slipped and fallen, severely damaging her muscles. A blood test will reveal if she has and to what level. The farmer hopes she will recover, but will his efforts be in vain? At Ardene House, equine specialist vet Graham Munroe has the tricky task of performing keyhole surgery on a horse to repair a damaged tendon in its leg. Getting the horse prepped and sedated before it is hoisted by crane into surgery is no mean feat. And back in Wick, a very sickly new calf has been brought in to the surgery and Fiona has to treat it quickly if she is to save it. The calf goes downhill rapidly and then recovers before relapsing again. Will it make it through or not?
