Tot voor kort mochten alleenstaande minderjarige asielzoekers, de zogenaamde AMA's, eigenlijk altijd in Nederland blijven. Ook al werd hun asielaanvraag afgewezen. Ze leerden Nederlands, gingen naar Nederlandse scholen, woonden in Nederlandse gezinnen, kortom ze integreerden, en werden niet teruggestuurd. Dat moest veranderen, en dus werd verleden jaar besloten tot een nieuw initiatief: in Campus Vught worden minderjarige asielzoekers zonder kans op een verblijfsvergunning voortaan opgevangen. In de besloten instelling krijgen ze een opleiding totdat ze oud genoeg zijn om terug gestuurd te mogen worden. Tegenlicht volgde het initiatief van dichtbij en registreerde de dilemma’s en frustraties van de medewerkers en de AMA’s. In deel 1 de eerste weken van de Campus, waarin direct duidelijk wordt dat de goedbedoelde plannen in de werkelijkheid anders blijken uit te pakken dan gedacht.
