“De Chinezen zullen harder lopen, sneller lopen en uiteindelijk ons voorbij gaan… en dat wil ik niet” (Minister Brinkhorst) Sinds Deng Xiaoping begin jaren ’80 het kapitalisme via een achterdeur naar binnen liet glippen, is China bezig met een onstuimige opmars in de wereldeconomie. China’s aandeel in de wereldhandel groeit snel, en de verwachting is dat dit pas het begin is. Begerig kijken Chinese bedrijven inmiddels over de grenzen van hun land. Op zoek naar nieuwe afzetmarkten zijn de eerste Chinese bedrijven al in Europa gearriveerd, en nog een hele reeks staat klaar om de oversteek binnenkort te maken. In Tegenlicht een beeld van het nieuwe ondernemende China. Een land dat veertig jaar communisme (althans in economisch opzicht) in rap tempo van zich afschudt en met hervonden trots het economisch wereldtoneel aan het veroveren is.
