When You're a Stranger
Having been chased out of Transylvania by revolting peasants the Dracula family are forced to leave and start a new life in Stokely. Once they've arrived at the castle the Count lays down the law to his two children Vlad and Ingrid – there is to be no mixing with the locals. His law is soon broken when a boy from the village, Robin, breaks into the castle & discovers that his neighbours are vampires.
First Day of School
The Count insists that his children will not go to school. Vlad is gutted, all he wants to do is go to school and be normal but his father is adamant – that is until the Headmistress turns up and insists that they go to school or the Count will be in serious trouble. Vlad is thrilled but the Count is determined to find out who dobbed him in. At the school we meet the Van Helsing's – Van H is immediately suspicious of Robin who he's convinced is a vampire. By the end of the episode however his attention is turned to Vlad...and so it begins.
Mummy Returns
Vlad & Ingrid's evil mother Magda turns up at the castle after her relationship with Patrick the werewolf hits the rocks. Vlad isn't pleased to see her as he knows she's just going to leave them and break his heart – again. Van H breaks into the castle – but Vlad and his trusted friends ensure that the Count is safe from the local slayer. Shame they can't protect him from Magda as well.
Slaytime TV
When the Count buys a TV he becomes obsessed with daytime TV & decides to make his own TV programme in the castle. Robin thinks that he was swapped with Vlad at birth & after a diet of ridiculous daytime TV plotlines the Count believes him. With Chloe's help Vlad has to find a way to convince the Count that he's his true son.
Home Education
Vlad and Robin get suspended after taking the blame for one of Ingrid's evil pranks. The Count has to tutor the boys from the castle and a hypnotism lesson goes horribly wrong when Vlad gets carried away and changes his dad into Count Normal and the Branaghs into blood thirsty vampires.
Toothache
Vlad thinks his fangs are coming through and is in a foul mood – this means that he really is turning into a vampire. When the Count tries to marry Ingrid off on her 15th birthday Robin pretends to be her vampire boyfriend to save her being sent off to live with a spotty vampire husband in Trans-siberia. Vlad thinks he has bitten Chloe when she stays the night and Chloe thinks she has turned into a vampire.
Parent's Night
It is Parent's Evening and the Count leaves the castle for the first time – not to take an interest in his children's education but to avenge a slur Mr Van Helsing has made about him - and in doing so he stumbles straight into Van Helsing's lair. But this is the least of the Vlad's worries - a rotting Mummy called Chandu is out to get revenge on the Count for a chess game they played hundreds of years ago.
13th Birthday
It is Vlad's 13th birthday and he is really excited about having his first ‘normal' birthday. However his plans fly out of the window when his Grandparents fly in the window. They've come to force their useless Grandson into early vampire-hood. Is it time up for Vlad being normal? Van Helsing thinks all his Christmases have come at once when he gets his hands on an unconscious Zoltan.
Living with the Branaghs
The Branagh house becomes overrun with cockroaches (Renfield's missing dinner ingredients) and they are forced to evacuate their home. The Count invites them to stay at the castle. He's hungry and Mrs B looks tasty. Vlad knows this spells disaster. Elizabeth does her best to adopt Transylvanian customs and cooks the Count a full Transylvanian feast. The Count decides to make Elizabeth a bride of Dracula and the kids have their hands full trying to stop him.
Rugby
Vlad wants to try out for the school rugby team but the Count won't let him – unless he cheats. Ingrid decides she needs to find a husband in order to be free of the Count's tyranny – she tries out the twins to see who is most suitable. Van Helsing breaks into the castle in drag – Renfield is smitten.
Father's Day
In true Father's Day fashion Graham is taking Robin and Chloe camping. They invite Vlad and the Count along much to Vlad's excitement and the Count's horror. The Count's bad mood induces an almighty thunderstorm and they are forced to camp in the castle. Fatherly competitiveness comes to a head when Graham and the Count decide to settle their differences with a duel. Van H has found a girlfriend and Jonathan is determined to give their relationship a good start – until he finds out that she is weirder than his dad. Ingrid uses Jonathan to sabotage the date.
Halloscream
Vlad is forced to ensure that no one screams at Halloween so that a ‘curse' will be imposed on his family – a curse of normality. If anyone screams the family will remain vampires. But being Halloween, frights and screams abound. Vlad goes out of his way to keep the peace so that the curse will be imposed. Robin on the other hand tries his best to make everyone scream. Jonathan locks Van Helsing up in the caravan – this is a night when his slaying instincts are all over the shop.
The Blood Test
Vlad has to sit a vampire exam, his first ever ‘Blood Test'. While he doesn't want to pass because it means that he's one step closer to becoming a vampire, he doesn't want to fail because the Count has said that he will never be able to see his friends again if he does. Robin has a crisis of confidence and turns normal – which means that Vlad is undecided whether to pass the test or not. Jonathan abandons Van Helsing at the castle after Van Helsing breaks his promise to give up slaying.
Countdown
The Count holds a hunt ball to find a new wife and Van Helsing uses it as an opportunity to infiltrate the castle. Jonathan finds out that vampires really do exist and Vlad has to pull out all the stops to save the Count from Van Helsing. The Branaghs are invited to the ball – not as guests but as the hunt victims. The Count finally discovers that there is a slayer in town and the series ends with a showdown between the Count and Van Helsing.
