Episode 3
Kate and Guddi meet Judith, a singer who has been delaying treatment of a thyroid nodule for fear it may damage her singing voice, as well as Melina, whose love for good food has been curtailed because of agonising gallstone attacks.
Judith grew up performing and surrounded by music, so she decided to follow a career as a singer. However, whilst abroad working on her music, she noticed a lump in her neck. It was a nodule on her thyroid, a gland in the neck that produces important hormones. While thyroid nodules are common as you get older, most people won't notice them. But Judith's nodule has now grown so much it has started to not only impact her singing, but also her sleeping and breathing.
Judith is hoping a three dimensional look at the growth in our state-of-the-art hub will help her to understand why surgery is the best option and to come to terms with her condition.
Another common medical condition that often goes unnoticed is affecting our next patient. Melina has gallstones in her gallbladder, a small organ that sits below the liver and aids digestion. The stones are blocking her gallbladder and certain types of food will trigger gallbladder attacks, as the organ cannot function properly, leaving her in immense pain.
Melina, who moved to the UK from America to support her mother, has had to make radical changes to her diet to prevent the attacks. But for someone who enjoys good food and who works in a luxury chocolate shop, this has been hard. Melina will face up to the severity of her case through our incredible technology. But will surgery allow Melina a return to normal life and normal food?

Episode 4
In the next instalment of this groundbreaking series, Kate Garraway meets two more patients with everyday medical conditions, and together with Dr Guddi Singh, guides them on an interactive medical consultation to help understand their illness.
In tonight's episode, we meet Tina, an adventure-loving mother whose lifestyle has been seriously curtailed because of a problem in her spine, and Annabelle, who was pregnant when she found a lump in her breast.
Tina has always been young at heart, leading an active life and enjoying adventurous activities with her daughter Kirsty. But in the last year, Tina noticed a tingling in her arm which worsened into intense pain. Tina began to struggle with daily activities and was diagnosed with a spinal condition called ‘cervical spondylosis with myelopathy', which causes the spinal discs and joints to degenerate. It affects nine out of ten of us by the time we are 60. However, only one out ten of those will suffer a long-term issue like walking problems.
In our imaging centre, and with the help of her musculoskeletal radiologist Dr Dimitri Amiras, Tina is shown exactly what is happening in her spine. She faces a daunting choice as she sees just how serious her condition is.
Next, we meet Annabelle, a scientist and mother of three. Annabelle was eight months pregnant with her third child when she found a lump in her breast. Annabelle and her husband Grant were shocked to find out it was an aggressive type of breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, with 55,000 women diagnosed every year. The doctors wanted to start Annabelle's treatment as soon as possible, so the decision was made to induce and deliver Annabelle's baby and begin chemotherapy.
Arriving at our immersive imaging centre, Annabelle has finished that treatment, and together with her oncologist Dr Jean Abraham, she has come to see whether it has reduced the size of her tumour. Using her actual scans, we will show her the result in incredible 3D. But Annabelle knows her treatment journey has only begun as we follow her onto the next step: surgery.

Episode 5
Kate and Guddi meet Miriam, a young woman who has endured years of pain and fatigue because of endometriosis, and John, who's recently been diagnosed with kidney stones, a common but painful condition.
Miriam has battled with endometriosis for most of her adult life, but in the last year it has significantly worsened. Endometriosis is a common condition affecting women of reproductive age. It occurs when cysts form on the ovaries or womb. Miriam has an extreme case, which last year caused her to be hospitalised. At just 25, Miriam is desperate for a better quality of life, as even simple household chores exhaust her. In our hub, Miriam is astonished by the number of growths. With the help of her consultant gynaecologist Shaheen Khazali, Miriam can see the extent of her endometriosis. But with a case this serious, it isn't just pain that concerns Miriam; her fertility is at risk too. We follow her as she faces lengthy surgery, the only option to get rid of the cysts.
John was rushed to hospital when he became severely unwell with suspected sepsis. But the cause of his pain was in fact a common condition: kidney stones, which affect around 1 in 10 of us. In our virtual consultation, John will confront the extent of his kidney stones, which are in not just one of his kidneys but both. He wants to know whether, once they're gone, they will return in the future. We follow John as he faces an anxious wait for the only option, surgery, in which his urological surgeon Anil Vohra will remove them in a delicate procedure.

Episode 6
Paul is a young man with a young family. He's always led an active life until two years ago when he suffered a stroke. It came out of the blue and although he recovered, it has had a huge impact on him and his family. With the help of interventional radiologist Dr Yogish Joshi from Addenbrookes Hospital, Paul will be guided through incredible augmented reality images to show him what happened during the stroke and his life-saving surgery.
Janet recently turned 70 and was looking forward to some sailing adventures with her husband, when their world was turned upside down. Janet noticed a strong pain in her back and blood in her stool. After a number of tests, a tumour was discovered in her bowel. Under the care of her colorectal surgeon Mr Subash Vasudevan, Janet will be given an immersive consultation to help her understand the location and size of the cancer inside of her. Her surgeon explains why the best course of action is to remove not just the tumour, but part of the bowel as well.
