Colonel Nikolai Ustyuzhanin arrives in the forests of Karelia after thirty years of service in military counterintelligence, where he was betrayed by his own people. The forester is here and the police, and Rospotrebnadzor, and the FSB, and the search engine, and the ecologist, and the father of all the inhabitants of this wilderness... 

The new place of residence of Ustyuzhanin – the village of Veselukha – pleases not only with the name, but also with cheerful neighbors. Drinkers Chip and Gangrene help Ustyuzhanin in any way they can, because they are engineers by education. One and a half Alyosha – half of a child and an adult in his head – brilliantly beats everyone at chess and counts berries in the forest. The former sailor Gorynych pours hot drinks in the local gentlemen's club "Polundra" only after 18 o'clock at the request of the wives of the workers. And the beautiful ladies of the district, of course, are looking for ways to the heart of the unapproachable, but soft-hearted, handsome Nikolai Ustyuzhanin. And behind all the crimes faced by Ustyuzhan in the taiga, there is a mysterious Owner…
