In this programme, vet Ann Wortley gets her power tools out at Ardene House when two other methods fail as she tackles an orthopedic problem in a spaniel. A slip of the wrist would be catastrophic. A cow that has newly calved can't get up as her womb has come out after giving birth to her calf, but she gives Iain a bit more than he bargained for.

He also has to take Mr Black, the rockhopper penguin, to surgery for a spot of cosmetic surgery before the mating season begins. And in Wick, a strong-smelling customer is a reluctant visitor to the surgery. The pygmy goat by its very nature has a strong smell and a stubborn character. Maybe the goat knows what's ahead of him as he is brought in for castration, but he certainly shows his willfulness in more ways than one.

The farmer hopes she will recover, but will his efforts be in vain? At Ardene House, equine specialist vet Graham Munroe has the tricky task of performing keyhole surgery on a horse to repair a damaged tendon in its leg. Getting the horse prepped and sedated before it is hoisted by crane into surgery is no mean feat.
